My wife had the cheddar biscuit and felt It was like some south in The coffe was good as well. We arrived shortly before they stopped serving breakfast. So we got breakfast sandwiches and split the avocado salad. The bread used for sandwiches was crispy and so fresh. Stopped in here early morning shortly after opening as we were staying across the street at the Aloft. I question how they would handle the busier times as it seemed to take a long time to toast and butter a couple of bagels.
The scone Not sure if it was just an early morning blip but on both my visits it just seemed long to get those done.
The pastry's are tasty and maybe on a return visit we'll ensure we have more time to linger if ordering something that requires some work. Oh my! Our last morning in Asheville gave us the best food! Great sandwich and biscuit. The cream cheese and pepper jam tart was so fresh and soft. The kiwi cookie and Coconut scone…. Do not skip this place! We ordered online and the order City Bakery is,as the name suggests, a bakery with the option of either taking your goods to go, or having them inside.
The service is very friendly and the sandwiches savory and rich. They will keep you going for at least until dinner and were Coffee and interior design could be improved, but overall a very plesant spot with outside sitting and a main street view. The sign says bakery but they serve meals. Great breakfast. Of course, the very popular Ashville thing-- line up to place your and put your little number sign on your table. One of the best bagels I every had.
And I'm from Brooklyn originally. After breakfast the wife got some bake goods to bring back to Charlotte. Just finished a great croissant and it was 3 days old. Good cookies and pastries. Only a dab across the top. One minor error still makes it a great place to eat. Went here 2 days while on vacation in Asheville for breakfast as our hotel we stayed in had expensive breakfast options.
One day I got the Breakfast Torta and the second day the Farmhouse Sandwich, both were very delicious! Would definitely frequent here again. They also served lots of different pastries and coffee that looked yummy. We stopped in for a quick breakfast and found lots of great options. I had the avocado sourdough toast which ended up being huge - enough for two light breakfasts.
